Refund policy
Every Bit is automatically sold with a hire period of 14 days. You will be charged the full price of the bit. This starts from the date of reciept - given by the tracking details collected by the courier when it is delivered to you. you then have 14 days to try the bit. After the 14 days if you choose to retun the bit you have a further 7 days to ensure that the item is back with us. In all the length of time should be within 30 days of purhase. This does include weekends and bank holidays.
If purchasing from in store or from us personally you have 14 days to try the bit and then can return it before the 14th day. This does include weekends and bank holidays.
After this time if you chose to return the bit then we advise you return in person or you use a tracked delivery service to ensure the item arrives back to us. If in the event that an item is lost in the post then you will need to claim from the courier used and no refund, exchange or credit will be given from us. Every bit is subject to a hire charge upon return to us. These charges are outlined below.
If you do not return the bit within the time outlined above then the trial period will be deemed to be over and no refund will be given for the bit. No additional hire charge will be charged at this point.
Upon the bit arriving back with us, we will inspect the bit for damages or misuse. If we approve the retun of the bit, the refund will be minus the shipping and a small hire charge of the bit outlined below. If the bit is damaged in anyway there will be no refund and the bit will be sent back to you and you will be invoiced and will have to cover the cost of postage incurred.
Please DO NOT put bits through the dishwasher. Heat is adverse for many bits, especially Sweet iron, copper and polymers. Please wash with soapy water and dry thoroughly before returning. They will be sanitised here. If the bit has undergone heat there will be extra charges and any damages caused by heat will be charged or your refund could be refused entirely.
We will aim to process your refund within 7 working days.
On ALL secondhand items returned your refund will be less hire charges and Your refund will be minus £6 to cover postage. This will be applied whether the bit is claimed to he used or not by yourself. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the bit being secondhand it is sometimes difficult to tell whether it is used and therefore, people will try to claim it hasnt been used by themselves when it potentially has been and I cannot allow 'free' use and trials on bits.
Hire charges
Hire charges are charged per individual bit, incase of a double if it is sold as 2 bits together it will be charged as 1.

Any items which are ordered in specially for you will be non-cancellable or non-refundable. cancelled orders will be subject to a 10% fee.
Non Hire items
- Special order items are non returnable or refundable unless for an exchange.
- Stock items - you have 14 days from receipt of the item to inform us that you will cancelling the transaction and the item will need to be back with us within 30 days of recieving the item. It must be in the same condition as the item was sent to you in.
- If you return goods outside of the time frame given in this returns policy and you have not exercised your legal right to cancel, we reserve the right to return the goods to you at your cost and no refund or exchange will be granted.
- It is the customers responsibility to cover return postage costs and obtain proof of postage. If the item does not get to us it is your responsibility to claim from the courier not us. If the item does not get to us then we cannot action any credit or refund.
- If you consider the item is incorrect or faulty we will be more than happy to provide a returns postage label. Please request this at info@thebitdoctor.co.uk
- Any damages to the item deemed to have been caused by the purchaser will be deducted from the refund accordingly to fix the item, or any signs of use will be deduced from the refund to reflect a more used resale price. If the item is unsalable, the item will be returned to yourself and no refund granted.
- If the item has been damaged while in your possession, no refund will be granted.
- If you have allowed your horse to chew through polymer bits, leather or other items which can be chewed there will be no refunds as you have allowed your horse to do this. If the bit is being damaged by chewing it is likely poorly fitted and not correct for your horse.
- We reserve the right to refuse to accept a return of any item which has incurred damages during the time in your possession or during transit.
- We reserve the right to make a deduction for any loss in value of the goods arising from our handling of the goods and charge a processing cost.
- When returning an item, can you please put a note in the parcel with your name and refund details (the same way as you paid) so that you can be processed faster. We aim to process refunds within 14 days.
- If an item is the wrong size, you dont like it or no longer needed the return postage is to be covered by yourself and £5 will deducted from the refund or credit.
- If you require an exchange additional postage is to be covered by you to post the replacement to you, and please supply your postal address for the exchange to send to you.
- You can withdraw the order by telling us before the order is made, if you simply wish to change your mind and without giving us a reason, and without incurring any liability within 14 days of purchase, if the Goods have not been posted out.
- To exercise the right to cancel, you must inform us of your decision to cancel this Contract by a clear statement setting out your decision by email sent to info@thebitdoctor.co.uk
- We will confirm receipt of the cancellation request and advise you on where to return the Goods to.
- Special Order, customised and personalised items are not cancellable under any circumstances.
Any items returned damaged will not be eligible for a refund. Items which have been chewed through by the horse will not be eligible for a refund. If the item has been damaged by incorrect fitting it will not be eligible for a refund.
Consultation Cancellation policy
If you cancel before 7 days prior to the consultation date you will receive a full refund. If you cancel less than 7 days prior , then no refund will be issued. You may postpone if you wish and arrange another date more suitable. If people wish to take your place this is acceptable.
One change of date will be done for free, if the appointment needs to be postponed more than once then a £20 fee will be due. If a postponed appointment is cancelled no refund will be given.
If you cancel with 36 hours or less until your appointment start time then to rearrange your appointment you will need to pay again.
